Q-KON SA, a South Africa-based provider of turnkey solutions covering specialist areas of telecommunications and ICT, in its capacity as strategic service provider to Business Connexion (BCX), provided a satellite communication network to assist in the roll out of mobile service stations.

Q-KON SA provided the X5 iDirect satellite modems, iNetVu Mobile platform and integration support to BusTruck, who completed the vehicle transformation into a service centre complete with desks, chairs, terminals, phones, external shaded area and generator.

Negotiating SLAs: Taking the Emotion out of Assessments

In our previous posts I told you about Service Level Agreements and why they are crucial to your business. An SLA is a contract between you and your customer stipulating that your company will respond to any crisis or critical requirement within a specified amount of time. I also discussed running SLA reports and how an SLA can help you address new markets. Reports are important because they define the minimum service above which the service delivered is deemed acceptable and they document the service provider’s adherence against contractual obligations.

Now we’re going to discuss negotiating an SLA, which is another aspect of managing your SLAs.

TSB Signs Five-Year VNO Service Deal with NewWave Broadband

Telenor Satellite Broadcasting (TSB) signed a five-year agreement with NewWave Broadband to provide iDirect’s Virtual Network Operator services for its maritime customer ShipEquip, TSB announced March 15.

TSB will use capacity on both the Thor 5 and Intelsat 10-02 satellites for coverage throughout Europe to support the contract. TSB also will provide uplink services within its European footprint. NewWave Broadband will manage and deliver VSAT satellite services to ShipEquip, serving ships and vessels in the North Sea, the Norwegian Sea and the Baltic Sea.

Globecomm Launches Tri-Band Auto-Acquisition Terminal

Mar 17, 2011 – Globecomm Systems Inc., a provider of communications solutions and services, announced the launch of its next generation Auto-Explorer 1.2 Meter Multi-Band terminal.

According to a release, the VSAT antenna uses band-specific feed cartridges with integrated RF electronics to enable frequency conversion in the field from X to Ka to Ku satellite bands, and supports several OEM L-band modem products from CEFD, iDirect, HNS and Viasat. Available in single, dual or tri-band configurations, it supports voice, fax, data, video, Internet and LAN-to-LAN connections.
