On Wednesday, March 2, we held a “Defence Technology Day” at our UK office. We showcased iDirect’s defence product line and our technology advances to over 40 customers. Customers could choose different technology tracks and product demos and had the opportunity to learn more about our partner solutions, such as Network Acceleration from Xiplink and Remote Management from Uplogix. Attendees also had the opportunity to view a display of fly-away antenna systems and get a preview of new ultra-portable antenna terminals that are fully integrated with an iDirect iConnex board. This was showcased by our partners from SIS, Paradigm Services and Sematron.
During SATELLITE 2011, GVF will be hosting a “Maritime Satcom Strategies” Seminar on Monday, March 14 as part of the Pre-Conference Program GVF Presents: Emerging Markets. Scott Chase interviewed seminar chairman Simon Bull, senior consultant at COMSYS and chairman of the newly-formed GVF Maritime Satcom Forum.
Scott Chase: If you had to name the three biggest trends in the maritime satellite communications market, what would they be?
Simon Bull: Without doubt, I would say that the three biggest trends are maritime satellite service providers’ shift from serving regional markets to addressing deep-ocean vessels; increasing demand for smaller antennas, which are being implemented in an attempt to reduce capital cost; and rapidly increasing bandwidth demands.
On Wednesday, Feb. 23, iDirect held a webinar, “Cellular Backhaul in Today’s Environment” with iDirect’s Director, Verticals Marketing, Richard Deasington. In case you missed it, you can watch it here: www.iDirect.net/webinar
CABSAT was held Feb. 8-10, and it was a busy show for iDirect. We spent a lot of time demonstrating our SatManage product and our new booth proved its worth with its classroom-style seating area. Attendees stop at our booth to learn how SatManage, our web-based software solution, can automate, monitor, and integrate hybrid networks and NOC-based applications, serving to enable large-scale, complex networks to run more efficiently.
March 14 – 17, 2011
By all accounts, Satellite 2011 is shaping up to be the headliner event of the year, with record-breaking attendance likely to exceed 10,000. There’s no better place to come together with the brightest minds in the global satellite community. The challenge is, with so much to see and do, how to make best use of your time.
As a major sponsor of Satellite 2011, here’s a heads up of what you can expect to see from iDirect.
DistribuTECH was held last week, Feb. 1-3, and we’re happy to report it was a busy show for iDirect. We had a lot of attendees stop at our booth to learn how iDirect technology can help utilities realize the goal of making their grids ‘smart.’
The show proves that the Smart Grid is no longer just a concept, but is a reality. With iDirect, utility companies can support real-time applications such as SCADA, Voice- or Video-over-IP in any geographic location and under any weather condition. To learn more listen to our webinar or watch the video.
“Cellular Backhaul: 3G and Beyond” Wednesday, Feb. 23, 10 a.m. EST
Due to popular demand we are bringing back our webinar series in 2011. Our first webinar will showcase “Cellular Backhaul: 3G and Beyond” hosted by iDirect’s Director, Verticals Marketing, Richard Deasington. Deasington will discuss the demands for 3G services in developing countries. This involves the use of VSAT to extend 3G networks in developed countries and how iDirect is responding to these needs with our SCPC Return and Multicast Fastpath technologies, which let operators use their existing platforms to address these higher bandwidth applications.
If you’re going to be at CABSAT 2011, be sure to stop by and see us. We’ll be at Booth #Sf-11. Join us to see live demonstrations of:
- SatManage – our web-based software solution for the automation, monitoring, and integration of hybrid networks and NOC-based applications, designed to enable large-scale, complex networks to run more efficiently
- Schedule an appointment for a Cellular Backhaul demonstration – see how your company can profitably and more easily offer cellular services to millions of potential new customers
Each year, the World Teleport Association (WTA) ranks our industry operators in their Top Teleport Operators lists. These are the cream of the crop, recognized for offering excellent service and for growing their business. In 2010, eleven iDirect operators made the WTAs Fast Twenty list—congratulations!
