David Bettinger, iDirect CTO, comments on the CTO roundtable breakfast panel, Satellite 2011

CTOs for the satellite industry’s leading companies met this morning at 7:30 for a breakfast discussion on trends driving the development and adoption of new technologies in the satellite Industry. 

“For 7:30 on a Monday morning in downtown DC I was extremely impressed with the turn out,” said iDirect’s CTO, David Bettinger.  “We must have had 100 people in the audience.”

Command Center – Interview with iDirect Government Technologies’ President, John Ratigan

John Ratigan - President, iDirect Government TechnologiesJohn Ratigan is the President of iDirect Government Technologies (iGT), a satellite-based IP communications company that transforms the way the Department of Defense (DoD) and civilian government agencies get and stay connected.  He started the Federal group for iDirect Technologies in 2003 which resulted in establishing iGT as a wholly owned subsidiary in 2007. Under his leadership, the group has enjoyed tremendous growth and has deployed thousands of terminals in support of military operations throughout South West Asia, as well as well as many civilian networks.
 
John brings more than 20 years of experience in the satellite communications arena to the Company.  Prior to joining iGT, he ran the east coast operations for Fairchild Data, and EF DATA, and eventually partnered in his own company that helped EF DATA grow from $20 million to $120 million in revenue and 700 employees between 1992 and 2000.   EFDATA became the preeminent leader in SCPC satellite technology in the late 1990s and provided John the baseline knowledge and expertise that would later benefit him in his role with iGT and the migration of technology into TDMA.  In addition to starting his own company, he held the position of Senior Vice president of North and South American sales for the start-up, Broadlogic, just as companies started to run IP directly over satellite.

Stallion Renews Capacity Deal With SES WORLD SKIES To Deliver Connectivity To Oil Rigs Across The U.S.

AMC-9 satellite enabling voice and data service from Alaska to Gulf of Mexico

Washington, D.C. – March 8, 2011 – With coverage of the remotest places, SES WORLD SKIES, a division of SES S.A. (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG), today announced it has signed a three-year capacity agreement with Stallion Oilfield Services to enable mission-critical connectivity for hundreds of oil drilling sites throughout America.

As part of the multi-million-dollar renewal, Stallion secured a full transponder of bandwidth on SES’ AMC-9 satellite to provide major oil and gas companies with voice and data services over its StaRCommTM VSAT network. Real-time oil drilling data and phone traffic, much of it securely linked to customer corporate networks, is routed through Stallion’s iDirect Evolution hub hosted at SES’ gateway in Woodbine, Maryland.

Defence Technology Day

Defence customer event EatonOn Wednesday, March 2, we held a “Defence Technology Day” at our UK office. We showcased iDirect’s defence product line and our technology advances to over 40 customers. Customers could choose different technology tracks and product demos and had the opportunity to learn more about our partner solutions, such as Network Acceleration from Xiplink and Remote Management from Uplogix. Attendees also had the opportunity to view a display of fly-away antenna systems and get a preview of new ultra-portable antenna terminals that are fully integrated with an iDirect iConnex board. This was showcased by our partners from SIS, Paradigm Services and Sematron.
